Robert O’Toole is an award winning professional photographer, as a BBC / Shell Wildlife “Photographer of the Year” competition award winner and the American Bald Eagle Foundation “Photographer of the Year “ for 2008.

A full time professional photographer specializing in wildlife and nature, Robert has been a professional photographer for more than 20 years. As an accomplished instructor, Robert has been leading photography workshop tours across the US and internationally for 7 years. He also hosts postproduction image optimization workshops and has written tutorial CDs featuring new image enhancement techniques.

Currently he is based in Florida and California and uses a variety of Nikon, Canon, and Sigma cameras and lenses. Robert has also worked in commercial photography all around the globe, with clients including Quiksilver Inc, Billabong International, Liquid Energy Ltd, Action Sports Group, and Atoll Media Ltd..

Q1. What camera system do you use?

A1. Currently I use a Nikon D700 and D300S with Nikkor and Sigma lenses. For casual photography I use a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3.  Still waiting patiently for the D4 to be released. I also have years of professional experience with Canon.
Since 2007 I have been using Nikon but I have more than 10 years of experience having  owned and used Canon every Canon digital Pro and semi-pro camera since the D30.

Q2. Are you strictly a professional photographer, what else do you do for a living?

A2. My photography business has been my sole source of income for the past 7 years. Before working with nature photography full time I was a commercial/advertising photographer.

Q3. What is your favorite place to photograph?

A3. Alaska has to be my favorite for the raw beauty and the amazing wildlife. California also is in my favorites but I am biased since its lived there most of my life.
